Executive Board Vacancies
As previously reported , this year is an election year in Local 2228. Local Union Policy states that Officers who do not intend to have their name stand for another term are requested to advise the members as soon as they have made their decision. So far, two officers have done so: Marlene Gosling (Executive Board Member for Region 3) and Blaine Larsen (Executive Board member for Region 5).
Executive Board members play an important role in the governance of the Local. With the other officers, they set the overall direction of the Local in areas of Local Union Policy, financial planning, bargaining strategy and many other areas. Moreover, Executive Board members play a critical role planning for the needs of the next generation of members.
It is important for these vacancies to be filled so members are encouraged to nominate a fellow brother or sister they feel is qualified to play this important role. Sitting as a member of the Executive Board will be of particular interest to those who have already served on boards in the not-for-profit sector.
