Negotiation Update #1
Your NAV CANADA negotiating team met for three days in Ottawa to continue preparations for collective bargaining.
In addition to team effectiveness and decision making training, the bargaining team reviewed the proposals considered by the National Steering Committee. These were formulated into ?proposal language? suitable for presentation to the employer. Your negotiating team also reviewed the two recent arbitral awards in NAV CANADA (CATCA and ATSAC) which specifically dealt with the pension issue. Finally, we discussed our overall bargaining strategy and how to approach certain issues.
The union and the employer will exchange proposals on August 27 at which time both sets of proposals will be made public.
