Shift Change Survey

The Local is launching an online survey to track the frequency of shift changes in NAV CANADA.  Members are increasingly concerned that ?shift changes? with very short notice (sometimes less than two days) are being used to adjust an employee?s hours of work.

Initial information suggests this is being done to avoid paying overtime and when much more notice could have been provided (such as making staff available for preventative maintenance).  Moreover, it is occurring in location that do not normally work shift.

The Local will be collecting this information for an unspecified period of time.  it could be used to support a bargaining proposal in the next round or to support a grievance.

All members are encouraged to report the circumstances of their shift changes so that a meaningful (and fact based) conversation can take place with the employer.

In Solidarity,
