TO ALL IBEW FIRST DISTRICT LOCAL UNIONS

Greetings:

As many are aware, Prime Minister Stephen Harper met with the Governor General, David Johnston on Sunday, August 2, 2015 and asked him to dissolve parliament, to drop the writ for the federal election which is now officially confirmed for Monday, October 19, 2015.

Last week at our IBEW All Canada Progress Meeting we released our Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) video message featuring International President Lonnie Stephenson and International Secretary- Treasurer Sam Chilia, specifically directed to our IBEW Canada members.

Please find the video message at this link (https://vimeo.com/136325014). I would ask that you show this video at your monthly general meetings, your training sessions, Executive Board meetings, and share it on your websites and any of your social media feeds.

 

You may notice in our video that we are encouraging our members to use phone banks in their Local Unions to contact fellow IBEW members. If you are planning on contacting your members by phone during the election period, you must register with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) document attached explains when you will need to register with CRTC, and this website link will walk you through the steps to register www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/phone/rce-vcr/reg1.htm.
