Increase in IBEW Per Capita Takes Effect January 1, 2018
The 39th IBEW International Convention was held in St. Louis, Missouri, USA during the week of September 19 through 23, 2016. The Delegates in attendance approved amendments to Article IX of the IBEW Constitution adjusting the per capita rate. Accordingly, effective January 1, 2018, there will be a monthly per capita increase of one dollars ($1.00) to $19 for all members. In accordance with Article IX of the IBEW Constitution, $19.00 per month from each member will be deposited in the General Fund. However, it is our practice that the Local Union will not apply the increase to our members until April 2018.
This will allow sufficient time for various employers to update their payroll records given recent wage increases in various bargaining units. Retroactive adjustments to dues are cumbersome and prone to error. An updated schedule of dues rates for Federal Government and NAV CANADA members is available for download here .
This increase, although unpleasant, is required to maintain the current level of support from the International Office and the ongoing work of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
