Volunteers required for OSH Policy Committee
The Local is seeking two members to participate on the NAV CANADA / IBEW Joint Occupational Safety and Health Policy.
The Committee’s responsibilities include developing policies around health and safety programs, address issues raised by workplace committees or policy committee members, and provide for the education of employees among other things. Policy committees do not directly investigate workplace incidents. Rather, they provide an oversight role.
Part II of the Canada Labour Code specifies that committee meetings take place during working hours. As such, your salary and benefits are covered by NAV CANADA. Travel expenses to attend meetings will either be covered by NAV CANADA or the IBEW depending on the circumstances.
