Executive Board Meeting - Fall 2018
The Executive Board met recently for our regular semi-annual meeting. The week-long meeting was held in Montreal during the week of September 24th where all of the Executive Board Representatives, Table Officers and the Business Manager were in attendance. In addition to routine business and reports, topics including conference attendance, bargaining, local union by-laws and policies, and communication with members were also discussed.
During the week we were visited by representatives from Public Services International (PSI), of which Local 2228 is an affiliate. They were able to discuss how the local can become more involved in the activity of PSI and also what their organization can offer to benefit ours.
We also toured our members’ workplace at 202 Workshop Depot located at CFB Montreal. Following the tour, we were able to speak to members there to introduce the national officers, discuss advantages of unit meetings, and hear some of their concerns.
As is our practice, the full Executive Board minutes including all reports, records of proceeding and any motions for membership vote will be sent to the Unit Chairs for their presentation at local unit meetings in the next couple of months. I encourage you to review the report once it is made available.
The next Executive Board meeting is scheduled to be held in Victoria in May of 2019.
In Solidarity,
