COVID-19 Update
IBEW LU 2228 is continuing to participate in regular meetings with senior officials of our major employers to discuss workplace issues caused by COVID-19.
This is a fluid situation, and we are continuing to monitor changes and advocate for members by consulting with the employer on issues including prevention, response, business continuity, individual circumstances, sick leave and other forms of paid leave.
The Local has been lobbying management to facilitate widespread teleworking where possible, emphasizing the importance of social distancing and social isolation to "flatten the curve" and mitigate the risks association with a widespread viral outbreak.
To facilitate a timely exchange of information, updates from our employers will be directed to the Local’s social media pages and the appropriate stewards for distribution to the membership.
The Local encourages the membership to visit the Public Health Agency of Canada’s website to keep up to date of changes and to stay informed on prevention and risks.

The Local appreciates the great work each and every member does on a day to day basis for the people of Canada and we will be here to advocate for you during this unique and stressful time.
The Health and Safety of our staff is paramount therefore the staff and the Business Representatives that normally work in the Ottawa office are now working from home. This will not interrupt the representation of the membership. If you have any issues or questions please feel free to email any of us and we will respond in a timely fashion.
