Nav Canada Calls on Unions to Resume Agreement Implementation Delay Talks

In late April 2020, the Local entered into a Memorandum of Understanding ( MOU ) with Nav Canada that allowed for the delay of implementation of the recently ratified collective agreement in an attempt to give the employer some economic relief due to the downturn in the Aviation Sector caused by COVID-19. This MOU is set to expire on 30, September 2020 and allows for discussion about any possible extension beyond the expiration date.

On Thursday, August 27, 2020, the NAV CANADA Bargaining Agents Association (NCBAA) attended a conference call with senior leaders of NAV Canada where they provided an update on the current financial situation of the company.

Today the Local received a request from Nav Canada to “meet with company representatives in early September, to further discuss the wage delays agreed to in April with a view to finalizing this issue.”

Once the Local has factual information from Nav Canada outlining what the company wants to discuss the information will be posted on our website.

No doubt this news will start the rumour mill churning so I would like to make the Local’s position clear. Any further requests to modify the already ratified agreement will be decided by the people that ratified it, the members.  Therefore, any future decision(s) will be done by a majority vote of the membership at Nav Canada.

I thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and professionalism in supporting one of the leading Air Navigation Services in the world!

In Solidarity
