DFO and IBEW reach agreement on callback interpretation

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and the Local recently reached an agreement on the correct interpretation of Articles 28 and 29 of the collective agreement.  The agreement is a result of a grievance filed by Brother Jozo Maric, a technologist working for the Coast Guard in Prescott, Ontario.

The agreement makes it clear that employees are entitled to a minimum 4-hour payment for each callout.  A copy of the Department?s memorandum is available here .

This agreement was reached following several meetings and significant effort on the part of the union and the department.  We sincerely appreciate the department?s effort to come mutually acceptable outcome on this dispute.

We also thank Brother Maric for raising the issue in the first place.  Without Brother Maric?s grievance, the benefit would have been lost for all members.

In Solidarity,
