President\'s Award for 2011
President\'s Award for 2011
It is my pleasure to announce the recipient of the President\'s Award for 2011.
Brother Malcolm Ross has been a consistent workers\' advocate for our members in British Columbia. He has also served our Local as a member of our bargaining team for several difficult rounds of bargaining. His leadership and willingness to debate sensitive issues has contributed to a high level of expertise during contract negotiations. He has been a member of DFO\'s Regional Workforce Adjustment Committee, and has provided timely advice to his colleagues on other similar committees. He was successful in influencing selection merit criteria during meetings with management to discuss those members affected by the Workforce Adjustment Directive.
A union is a community for people to come together to support each other and to hear new ideas. Brother Malcolm Ross has encouraged new ideas in many ways. Through his unwavering support of his fellow members, he has enhanced our Local\'s reputation by providing years of exemplary service to them.
Please join me in congratulating Brother Ross in this recognition of his service to our Local.
Fraternally,
Daniel Dawson
President
