Perry Konynenbelt wins 2013 Outstanding Stewardship Award
It?s my pleasure to announce that Perry Konynenbelt is the winner of the 2013 Outstanding Stewardship Award.
Perry has been an IBEW member since 1988 first working as a Technician for Access Network then City TV in Edmonton after its sale to Rogers Broadcasting. Perry became a steward eight years ago when the previous steward left on medical leave and ultimately resigned.
Perry is known for two very important qualities: a balanced approach to labour relations and compassion for his members. During a certification vote at City TV Perry knew people from both unions and worked very hard to ensure members voted on the merits of each union. Of course he promoted the IBEW as the preferred union however he did all he could to avoid an ?us versus them? mentality after the vote. Moreover, Perry has a reputation of dealing with management in a forthright but diplomatic manner. He is well respected and they appreciate his efforts in keeping the television station operating smoothly. Finally, Perry?s compassion for his fellow members is well known in the workplace having successfully handled a few difficult disability management cases.
The IBEW and Local 2228 in particular are very lucky to have the dedication of a steward like Perry Konynenbelt.
Congratulations Perry!
Fraternally,
